Code of Ethics

Effective Date: October 20, 2026

DeeLexy provides AI-assisted legal research. We aim to help people understand legal issues and examine relevant authorities while respecting the role of courts, the rights of individuals and the limits of automated analysis. Our initial legal coverage focuses on England and Wales; these principles guide our work across the legal systems we support.

The commitments below also reflect the nine principles relevant to the responsible computational analysis of records from The National Archives' Find Case Law service. We have applied for the necessary licence. We will conduct such analysis only after it is granted and subject to its specific conditions. Our Methodology explains how we approach legal research.

1.

Dignity of the Court

We treat judgments and other court records with respect, identify their source and distinguish judicial reasoning from our own analysis. We do not misrepresent court documents or imply that a court or tribunal endorses DeeLexy.

2.

Independence of the Court

We respect judicial independence. DeeLexy does not provide ratings or profiles of individual judges or predictions about how a named judge will decide a case. AI-generated responses are not represented as judicial decisions or orders.

3.

Appropriate Scrutiny

We recognise that published legal collections and our own research may be incomplete. We do not present a selection of judgments as a complete or statistically representative picture of the justice system. We respect court-imposed anonymity and reporting restrictions and do not seek to defeat them by combining identifying details from different sources.

4.

Anti-Discriminatory Harm

We aim to avoid unfair, discriminatory or harmful treatment in the way legal material is used and presented. Some legal questions legitimately concern protected characteristics, including discrimination and equality claims; researching those issues is different from profiling or unfairly targeting people. We provide a way to report concerns about harmful outputs.

5.

Anti-Bias

We recognise that gaps in source coverage and limitations of AI can affect the balance and accuracy of an analysis. We assess reported problems and work to improve the quality and fairness of the service. We do not claim that any AI system is free from bias.

6.

Personal Privacy

We respect the privacy of users and people mentioned in legal records, including individuals who have not chosen to use our service. We aim to limit unnecessary exposure of personal information and handle it in accordance with applicable legal requirements. Details of our practices and service providers are set out in our Privacy Policy.

We do not train or fine-tune AI models on judgments or legislation. Our Privacy Policy sets out our commitment not to use customer content, including inputs and outputs, to train or fine-tune AI models.

A licence to re-use court records does not itself provide a legal basis for processing personal data; applicable data-protection requirements, including UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, must also be met.

7.

Discoverability

Before incorporating Find Case Law records under licence, we will put safeguards in place to prevent public search engines from indexing their text or extracted data through DeeLexy, and to prevent uncontrolled crawling, scraping or bulk extraction. Signing in does not remove these restrictions. References to judgments should direct users to the authoritative publisher where appropriate, without bypassing reporting restrictions or licence conditions.

8.

Algorithmic Transparency

We identify DeeLexy as an AI-assisted service and explain the general role of legal sources and automated analysis in our Methodology. We aim to make important conclusions checkable against identifiable materials and explain significant limitations. We do not suggest that a cited or confidently worded answer is necessarily correct.

9.

Accurate Data Representation

We aim to preserve the identity, context and relevant status of legal sources, including corrections and changes brought to our attention. For any Find Case Law records incorporated under licence, we will regularly check the authoritative publisher for revised or withdrawn records and update or remove affected copies and derived material as required by the licence. We do not present DeeLexy's interpretation as the court's own conclusion.

10.

Accountability and concerns

Responsibility for this Code rests with Timeless Technology Inc., the company operating DeeLexy, under the oversight of its director. We review concerns and update our practices or this Code when appropriate. Questions, corrections and privacy-related concerns may be sent to support@deelexy.com.
