DeeLexy helps individuals, businesses and legal professionals research legal questions through AI-assisted analysis and identifiable legal sources. DeeLexy supports research across legal systems, with an initial focus on England and Wales. Coverage and available sources vary by jurisdiction.
This page explains our approach and its limitations. Our Code of Ethics describes the principles that guide our work. Use of the service is governed by our Terms of Service.
1.Legal sources and jurisdiction
Depending on the question and available coverage, DeeLexy may draw on legislation, judicial decisions, official guidance and other published legal materials. We may use a curated legal collection and conduct additional research when needed. We also consider information and documents provided by users in the context of their questions or matters.
We seek to identify the origin and legal status of relevant sources. A document's publication or appearance in a search result does not establish that it governs the matter. Its relevance depends on the applicable legal system, the facts, the date and the authority of the source. An English decision, for example, does not automatically determine the law of another jurisdiction.
User-provided information can be important to an analysis, but it is not independently verified solely because it was submitted to DeeLexy.
2.Legal research and analysis
DeeLexy uses AI-assisted research to identify potentially relevant authorities, compare legal positions and help explain how those authorities may relate to the question asked. Depending on the task, research may involve both materials available within the service and additional published sources.
We aim to distinguish the content of a legal source from our interpretation of it, and to identify material qualifications, competing positions and gaps in the available evidence where relevant. Finding a source is a starting point for analysis, not a guarantee of the correct legal conclusion.
3.Sources and verifiability
Where available, DeeLexy provides citations or links that enable users to inspect the materials supporting important legal conclusions. A citation identifies a source; it does not, by itself, establish that the source has been interpreted correctly or that it applies to every circumstance.
DeeLexy's explanations are AI-generated analysis. They are not judgments, orders or official statements issued by a court, regulator or legislature. We aim to avoid invented authorities and misleading quotations, but mistakes remain possible.
4.Coverage, time and uncertainty
Our legal collections are selective and do not include every relevant statute, judgment or publication. Find Case Law also provides an incomplete collection of court judgments and tribunal decisions. The absence of an authority from a response is not proof that it does not exist. Research may also be affected by incomplete or inaccessible records.
The law changes. A provision may have been amended, commenced at a different time or applied differently across territories. Judicial decisions may be distinguished, reconsidered, corrected or withdrawn. Where timing matters, users should provide the relevant dates and check the applicable law and source versions.
DeeLexy supports legal research and informed decision-making; it cannot guarantee an outcome or replace the judgment of a qualified professional. Important, urgent or high-stakes matters warrant independent verification and, where appropriate, professional advice.
5.Court records, privacy and responsible use
We respect judicial anonymisation, reporting restrictions and the privacy of people named in legal records. We do not seek to identify people whose identities have been protected by a court. Further information about how we handle personal data appears in our Privacy Policy.
We have applied for a licence to conduct computational analysis of records from The National Archives' Find Case Law service. Those records are not yet part of our legal collection. We will conduct such analysis only after obtaining the necessary authorisation and subject to the applicable licence terms.
6.Feedback and corrections
If you believe a response misstates the law, misrepresents a source, relies on outdated material or creates a privacy concern, please contact support@deelexy.com. We review reported concerns and determine appropriate corrective action.
